“glimmer” is a collection of abstract pieces inspired by the glow of the sun, the changing light of the day and the effects of sunlight on the human made environment. these pieces were installed in the Rare Device gallery and windows in February 2025
A glimmer itself derives from the effect of light. One definition of it: “to glow faintly or flickeringly”; but Rachel also likes the reference that she learned about from Jason Logan who wrote “coined by Deb Dana, a licensed clinical social worker specializing in complex trauma, it’s like a trigger but the opposite. The micro-noticings or events that can reset your body and mind with joy rather than anxiety.”

Begun as an experiment in 2022 using only what materials I had left over from various Covid-era projects, this series has evolved over time to include 2 and 3 dimensional pieces as well as a site installation. My greatest hope is to delight the viewer and create a “glimmer” for them when experienced.
